Setup Chinese font for Netscape in Solaris

you need two things. Your netscape configuration and have admin access to your Xserver’s font directory.

a. Find some chinese X fonts (pcf files), put them under your Xserver’s font directory. Possibly /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/{something,something,something} . A good
place is the misc directory. You can get these fonts from the ifcss archive. Actually I think solaris 7 includes
a few, not a lot, and optional as
well. You might need to pkgadd them. Possibly need to run mkfontdir in that directory, and either “xset fp rehash” or restart the X server afterwards.

b. Two settings under netscape. one is what font to use for
particular encodings, (it is one of the advanced settings), and
the encoding for your current document under “view”.
